This is a link to a place where you can download several of the live sets from Ultra 2011 recorded via satellite radio. There are 8 here and there is a link to 4 more or so on the site. These recordings are of excellent quality and do a pretty good job of taking me back…
Shout out to RUKES on this awesome photo from Saturday at Ultra. Not many places on earth can you party downtown with 50,000 of your newest friends. If you look at the middle of the shot you can see me diligently filming in the grey all the way down to my friend Ryan in the red cut-off. As with so many other cases this weekend, right place, right time!
On our last day we wanted to get a different look at the festival. We spent the day walking around to various stages instead of camping out for the headlining artists at the mainstage. It was awesome to see how truly massive this festival is. With over 150,00 people in attendance over three days from over 70 different countries, this was an experience to remember. And at the end of the day, we found ourselves peaked atop the grassy hill in the back looking out onto a sea of people eagerly awaiting the one and only David Guetta.
Thought I had enough Deadmau5 already so i figured I would start posting some of my Tiesto footage. Its been noted that Tiesto has played this song at every gig he has ever done in his professional career, and I can see why. Ask anyone who has seen him live and they will tell you that he is truly in another realm. Fortune smiled on my fiends and I this day as we came in for a close encounter towards the end of the video.
What came next was completely unexpected by myself and just about everyone in the crowd. While we knew that SOFI would be joining Joel on stage, we had no idea that Tommy Lee would rise from behind the stage to accompany the two on the drums! Making this a breathtaking live version of the instant classic, “SOFI needs a ladder.”
In my opinion, this is one of Deadmau5’ greatest songs ever. And while I may be a tad biased as I am a lover of all dubstep, the crowd seemed to agree with me. Wait this one out through the drop and you can have a small glimpse of what it was like to be there. Watch as the mau5 and 50,000+ of his fans “raise their weapons.”
Deadmau5 closes out his set with an amazing encore, his new song
(On a side note, the title of this song is named for the brightest star known to mankind… cool little tidbit huh?)HR 8938 Cephei
… Wanted to get the whole song but my camera ran out of battery :(
This is the first of my Deadmau5 videos from Ultra 2011. What a fucking set! My friends and I were only 10 or so rows back and I was able to get some pretty ridiculous footage with a HD flip cam I got for my birthday. What amazes me most is that he is controlling both his mix board and all of his light cues throughout the entire set… something you don’t see very often. Perhaps Joel is right, maybe he’s not a DJ, perhaps he’s something more!
This first video is of the Mau5’s new song Maths (I say new because it is unreleased and he has been perfecting it over the last several months… I realize some of you die hards may have heard this before!). The visuals for this were probably the most overwhelming I have ever seen in person before. Stunning colors and intricate patterns left me staring down at my mind in pieces on the floor.
